Ha Long Bay

Ha Long Bay is probably the most popular touristic destination of Vietnam.

Ha Long Bay
This postcard was sent from China by Victor-Lu

Ha Long Bay, in the Gulf of Tonkin, includes some 1,600 islands and islets, forming a spectacular seascape of limestone pillars. Because of their precipitous nature, most of the islands are uninhabited and unaffected by a human presence. The site's outstanding scenic beauty is complemented by its great biological interest. - in: http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/672

Pre-Hispanic City and National Park of Palenque

This site might be smaller than other sites of its kind, but still, looks amazing to me

Palenque
This postcard was sent by Marco

Palenque, also anciently known as Lakamha (literally: "Big Water"), was a Maya city state in southern Mexico that flourished in the 7th century. The Palenque ruins date from ca. 226 BC to ca. AD 799.
Palenque is a medium-sized site, much smaller than such huge sites as TikalChichen Itza, or Copán, but it contains some of the finest architecture, sculpture, roof comb and bas-relief carvings that the Mayas produced. - in: wikipedia

Rio de Janeiro: Carioca Landscapes between the Mountain and the Sea

I'm sure that my wife would love to go to Rio. She loves the sun, the sea, the beaches and caipirinha. I prefer the shadows. Maybe Rio de Janeiro would please us both: I could go to the mountain, she could go to the sea and we would always meet somewhere in the middle :)

Christ The Redeemer and Guanabara Bay
This postcard was sent by Fernando

The site consists of an exceptional urban setting encompassing the key natural elements that have shaped and inspired the development of the city: from the highest points of the Tijuca National Park’s mountains down to the sea. They also include the Botanical Gardens, established in 1808, Corcovado Mountain with its celebrated statue of Christ, and the hills around Guanabara Bay, including the extensive designed landscapes along Copacabana Bay which have contributed to the outdoor living culture of this spectacular city. - in: http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/1100

Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe

This park, the largest hillside park in Europe, took 150 years to be ready, but I think the waiting was worth it!

Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe
This postcard was sent by Liane

Descending a long hill dominated by a giant statue of Hercules, the monumental water displays of Wilhelmshöhe were begun by Landgrave Carl of Hesse-Kassel in 1689 around an east-west axis and were developed further into the 19th century. Reservoirs and channels behind the Hercules Monument supply water to a complex system of hydro-pneumatic devices that supply the site’s large Baroque water theatre, grotto, fountains and 350-metre long Grand Cascade. Beyond this, channels and waterways wind across the axis, feeding a series of dramatic waterfalls and wild rapids, the geyser-like Grand Fountain which leaps 50m high, the lake and secluded ponds that enliven the Romantic garden created in the 18th century by Carl’s great-grandson, Elector Wilhelm I.

The great size of the park and its waterworks along with the towering Hercules statue constitute an expression of the ideals of absolutist Monarchy while the ensemble is a remarkable testimony to the aesthetics of the Baroque and Romantic periods. - http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/1413

Old town of Regensburg with Stadtamhof

I really want to visit a UNESCO site in Germany and Regensburg is on the top of my "must see" list of the country.

Regensburg
This postcard was sent by Sanja

Located on the Danube River in Bavaria, this medieval town contains many buildings of exceptional quality that testify to its history as a trading centre and to its influence on the region from the 9th century. A notable number of historic structures span some two millennia and include ancient Roman, Romanesque and Gothic buildings. Regensburg’s 11th- to 13th-century architecture – including the market, city hall and cathedral – still defines the character of the town marked by tall buildings, dark and narrow lanes, and strong fortifications. The buildings include medieval patrician houses and towers, a large number of churches and monastic ensembles as well as the 12th-century Old Bridge. The town is also remarkable for the vestiges testifing to its rich history as one of the centres of the Holy Roman Empire that turned to Protestantism. - in: http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/1155/

West Norwegian Fjords – Geirangerfjord and Nærøyfjord

These fjords, among the world's longest and deepest, provide some of the most beautiful natural views of the planet. So far I only have postcards of one of them.

Geiranger Fjord
This postcard was sent by Sandra

The Geiranger Fjord (NorwegianGeirangerfjorden) is a fjord in the Sunnmøre region of Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located entirely in the Stranda Municipality. It is a 15-kilometre (9.3 mi) -long branch off the Sunnylvsfjorden, which is a branch off the Storfjorden (Great Fjord). The small village of Geiranger is located at the end of the fjord where the Geirangelva river empties into it.

Geiranger Fjord
This postcard was sent by Joaninha

The two most notable waterfalls in the Geiranger Fjord are Seven Sisters Falls and the Suitor (also called The Friar). Both falls face one another across the fjord, and the Suitor is said to be trying to woo the sisters opposite.
The Bridal Veil is another waterfall in the fjord, so named because it falls delicately over one rocky edge, and when seen backlit by the sun it has the appearance of a thin veil over the rocks. - in: wikipedia
