Greater Blue Mountains Area

These mountains are called "Blue Mountains" because of the essential oil of various eucalyptus species that evaporates and form a blue haze

The Blue Mountains is a mountainous region and a mountain range located in New South WalesAustralia.
This area is one of rugged tablelands, sheer cliffs, deep, inaccessible valleys and rivers and lakes teeming with life. The rare plants and animals that live in this natural place relate an extraordinary story of Australia's antiquity, its diversity of life. This is the story of the evolution of Australia's unique eucalypt vegetation and its associated communities, plants and animals.
The Three Sisters is a rock formation in the Blue Mountains of New South WalesAustralia, on the north escarpment of the Jamison Valley. They are close to the town of Katoomba and are one of the Blue Mountains' best known sites, towering above the Jamison Valley. Their names are Meehni (922 m), Wimlah (918 m), and Gunnedoo (906 m). - in: wikipedia
